Architechture
A diverse group that tackles designs with a different approach to every project that is laid on the drafting table, this team favors no distinct style and instead, takes into account the unique attributes of the site and the goals of the clients. The basic architectural stages include: Conceptual Architectural Design, Schematic Design, Design Development, Contract Development, and Construction Implementation. In order for each project to be unique, identifiable, and memorable, the firm is guided by the basic principles of new urbanism, the firm's triple bottom-line approach, and the 12 sustainable design developments.

Projects
Planning
In every planning endeavor undertaken, the team keeps a special eye on the social, environmental, and cultural issues and trends surrounding each project and suggests the proper timing and feasibility of developments for clients. The Urban planning and master planning teams conduct studies on the different approaches of urban development and urban elements that would manage public discipline to recreate a pattern of a more pedestrian-friendly environment by integrating more open spaces and lands for the further socio-economic structure development. Thus, the end product is always a sustainable, adaptive, and responsive development design.
Projects
Urban Design

The parameters of the urban design team covers sustainability and a holistic design, encouraging discipline to modulate human activity towards a safer and more enjoyable environment, and promoting a better quality of life. Their designs enhance the landscape and streetscapes by devising ways to promote quality outdoor environment for the visual, psychological benefits of man. The team aims at maintaining the soul of the community or character by placing a rhythmic pattern of elements and in hand, promote uniqueness and a sense of place and distinction.

Projects
Interior Design
The Palafox Associates Interior Design Team is mostly involved in turning an interior space into an effective setting for the range of human activities. In order to achieve the storyline fit to the client's choice, the interior design team infuses contemporary innovations, psychological studies of colors, with design concepts based on the project's background, socio-cultural studies and spatial profile. Aesthetic and spatial relationships are done through 3-D modeling for clients to get a better perspective of the spatial study.

Projects
Engineering

The allied professionals of the building industry, the Engineering team generally ensures the possibilities of an architectural design to be built, guiding the Architecture and Planning teams with representations of alternative solutions to ensure the structure's durability and flexibility against existing human and natural hazards. The Vertical engineering team executes, navigates, and researches the structural development through 3D modeling, while the horizontal engineering deals more on the broader scope through extensive analysis to achieve a more sustainable development.

Projects
Innovations
This integral team handles a wide scope of tasks, covering conceptual modeling and research materials for the different teams to helping out the Business Development group generate and monitor the progress of projects. The innovations team also handles the arrangement and speeches, lectures, and presentations delivered by the principal architect and associates, and if needed, represent the company in various conventions, symposia, and congresses.

With research as one of the firm's primary functions, Innovations is well-equipped with a library containing at least 400,000 books, journals, magazines, planning and architectural reports. The firm employs a full-time librarian to document and process these materials for easier access and proper circulation.

Quality and Environmental Management Team
To ensure that the firm complies with ISO 9001 and 14001 standards, all Palafox Associates employees are oriented and involved in the teams handling the environmental and quality management aspects of the firm’s operations, led by our Quality and Environmental Management Representative. Seminars on ISO Awareness, Emergency Preparedness and Response, Pollution Control and activities like fire drills, Annual Physical Exam, and internal audits are regularly conducted to keep the firm abreast on compliance and continual improvement.

Management Information Systems (MIS)

The team integrates technology with operational systems to make that services are rendered smoothly and efficiently by regular updates of hardware and software.

Administration
The Administration Team sees to it that actions by the firm’s members are aligned to company core values. Several groups devote their expertise to achieve this: The Human Resources group considers technical competencies and values in the recruitment of employees and a managed training program aims to continually improve their skills. The Business Development group, meanwhile, participates in activities to help the company generate and monitor the progress of projects. The Accounting group on the other hand makes sure that business ventures are feasible to keep the company’s resources. These three make up the strong backbone in maintaining quality outputs.

Palafox Associates was born in a period of change. Founded on the same year as the Web, the fall of the Berlin Wall, the fall of Communism in Western Europe and coup attempts in the Philippines, the firm had to be versatile to evolve through global changes. Since the company’s entry into the Philippine architectural, planning, design, and engineering scene was not exactly fortuitous, the firm saw an opportunity in the global market.

Through the years, Palafox Associates has been setting the benchmark in the Philippine planning, architecture and design scene. In less than 10 years, it has emerged as a top Filipino architectural firm recognized by the London-based World Architecture magazine. Before its 15th year, it has metamorphosed into a top Southeast Asian architecture, planning, engineering, environmental design and interior design firm backed by ISO certifications 9001 and 14001 of TUV of Germany.

Today, Palafox Associates envisions to influence the rest of the world with its site-respective stylistic reference approach to design, as it continuously comes up with visionary projects for the betterment of mankind.
In Palafox Associates, we adhere to several models like the Triple E or P approaches as one of unique value propositions. The Triple E model stands for Social Equity, Earth, Economy, or it could also be referred to as Triple P- People, Planet, Profit. The firm's plans embody the care for the environment, promotion of social growth and development and take into consideration the impact to community, city, and humanity.
The advancement of people's lives is always considered in the designs of the firm. Utmost importance is given to the satisfaction of not only the clients but also of the end-users. The firm participates in architectural activism by igniting the interests of local governments to invest in projects for development and good governance in the industry, promotes patriotic architecture by considering cultural contexts and societal thrusts, values democratic architecture, gender equality and recognizes corporate social responsibility.
As design and planning professionals, we take a stand in protecting and enhancing the environment, making sure that the natural and built environments can harmoniously co-exist first by looking at the bigger urban context of a location, conducting site analysis to be able to evaluate its characteristics and constraints and identify its development opportunities.
Project acquisition is the major consideration of a profit-oriented approach. To this end, the firm has invested in creating a track record of projects to establish credibility and a trustworthy level of expertise. Palafox Associates continues to invest on high-end technology and data archival to better serve our clients.

A three-tiered program has been formulated and developed for the Central Visayas Region and Dumaguete, which will intensify the overall growth of the region. This includes the creation of a regional center (Metro Cebu), provincial urban center (Tagbilaran City, Dumaguete City, and Siquijor), and provincial industrial enterprises. The desired goals of this development program are the following: the transformation of the provincial urban centers into growth and investment areas by the expansion of industrial activity from Metro Cebu; the development of provincial urban centers as processing areas and suppliers of products coming from the municipalities; the physical integration of the region with the other regions in the Visayas and major islands in Mindanao; and the establishment of world-class passenger terminals: the Cebu International Seaport, Mactan-Cebu International Airport, and Dumaguete and Tagbilaran Seaports.

The color palette for the exteriors, silver for the aluminum clad walls and bluish green for the curtain walls, makes the BIDV Tower, a design competition entry, complement the ambiance of its the immediate urban community. The conservative approach to the tower's dynamic representation resulted in the creation of a corporate look for this structure.

The upward axes of the head geometrical form signifies the concept of upward growth. The spire that crowns the building adds a distinctive statement of the global in its design. The podium is provided with deck vegetation and covers, which significantly reduces the heat load of the buildings, filters air pollutants, and frames the metropolitan skyline. The V form at the base makes the building more identifiable to the corporate image of the bank.

Megaworld is a pedestrian-filled mixed-use development covering a significant 10% of the city's property occupied by the 54 hectare old airport. The plan includes the conversion of old runways to plaza walkways and vehicular roads, a distinct fusion of the people and automobile space existing alongside Euro-American inspired Filipino architectural facades and arcades. The development will create a socially-stratified plaza in linking busy slow-moving roads. The proposal dramatizes the use of planting strips and water features to generate ambiance for al fresco dining and leisurely walking aimed at creating an intimate urban setting.

The masterplan of Nueva Ecija Civic Center includes a provincial capitol, a coliseum, a track oval, and auxillary spaces. The focus of the masterplan is the development of the provincial capitol located at the heart of the site designed to create a strong sense of authority within the civic center. Combining modern Filipino and Neo-classical architecture, the Masterplan   gives majesty to a capitol   framed by the backdrop of a soft landscape

The proposed development will have the essential qualities of being unique, memorable and identifiable. Hence, the facility, being a focal center for diplomatic activities, is conceptualized as a “piece of the Philippines,” or a “home away from home,” where Filipino nationals can enjoy the congenial and friendly atmosphere of their country. This concept, is most evident in a design which fuses vernacular and international styles. This achieved by the integration of the many facets of Asian architectural heritage. Malay, Indonesian, Hindu –Arabic and Chinese cultures will interplay with styles influencing Philippine architecture like Spanish and American. Thus, the project will display the rich culture of the Philippines characterizing Filipino Global Architecture in the context of diplomacy and international relations .

There are three courtyards in the development plan surrounded by the consular and embassy sections on the southeast and by the social hall and athletics court on the northwest. The location of these courtyards will enable the facilities adaptive to passive cooling. Sun buffers are provided in areas which receive intense sunlight.

The structures will be constructed along the east-west solar axis to minimize, if not avoid, undesirable direct sunlight. The buildings, designed to have multi-level floor elevations, will follow the site’s Rolling terrain in order to mitigate the cutting of the original topography.

The design for the Bureau of Immigration building in Taguig provides a semi-symmetrical Spanish-inspired façade with its light yellow walls, brick columns, and capiz windows. Visitors and employees have separate entrances into the building. A deck garden at the fourth floor serves as a link from the interior to the exterior of the structure. The building is well-lit during the day because of the depth of the rooms. Basement parking improves the pedestrian movement on the ground level and keeps the facade unobstructed by human traffic.

The Puerto Princesa Convention Center is a two building complex featuring an Exhibit and a Convention Hall connected by an elevated walkway. The form of the building symbolizes a bird preparing to take off, in plan and in perspective. The design aims to encourage interaction and community gathering. This is an answer to the goal of Puerto Princesa City which is to become a center for tourism in the Southern region of the country.

The Quezon City Museum, the home of the city’s historical artifacts, is an epitome of sustainable design. To create a building with minimum impact in the natural environment, the design preserves most of the trees in the site. Also, lush greenery covers the site and helps provide shade in paved areas. The roof of the proposed museum is planted with grass to achieve insulation for the building and, consequently, bring down the temperature inside the shell. In doing so, minimal dependence on air-conditioning within the interior spaces will be achieved.

Interior courts will also be landscaped so the users of the museum will always experience nature, while the exterior is also treated with green walls to further cool the building.

The form of the building is organic as a move to integrate the structure with its surroundings.

A design competition won by Palafox Associates, the Supreme Court Annex building addresses the challenge of integrating harmoniously a new structure with the existing building.
Located in Padre Faura, near the Philippine General Hospital, this building follows the design patterns of classical architecture and features three fenestrations defined by a group of three round arches reaching as high as five stories, dramatizing the beauty of the classic arcade found at the main entrance of the court. The projecting entrance features a recessed doorway flanked with stone columns.

Providing hope for an earthquake-prone community is Tzu Chi School's symbolic approach to its “active man concept.” Visual stimulus is achieved through the harmonic interplay of Persian, Assyrian-Christian and Ionic Greek styles. Its unique collaborative design manifests high regard for culture and traditions of the area, architectural aesthetics, and the site's historical importance. This authenticity is complemented by the use of locally available concrete, glass and bricks in all its three major structures which include the entrance feature, school buildings and the landscaped activity spaces. From a backward marshland during the first half of the twentieth century to a landscape of skyscrapers in the second half, Makati continues to shape the urban landscape of the country with its tall office buildings, work- and productivity-oriented activities, and walkable spaces.

The goal of improving the streetscape of Makati is the transformation of the blighted areas particularly under the bridges of the city through the restoration and/or adaptive reuse  of historic structures which are basic  modes  of urban renewal. The concept of keeping people’s eyes in the street will improve the security of the streets. Water and landscape features soften the urban setting and provide the pedestrian a resting space along busy streets.

Ortigas Center is home to many office, retail and residential towers and medium-rise buildings. Its streets are lined up with multi-use and mixed-use developments that needed linking and labeling. Palafox Associates proposed a connection from MRT Ortigas to the malls and major buildings within the vicinity. The pedestrian flow was the priority in the development project, making sure that security and legibility of directions is maintained in the proposed routes.

Entry pylons constructed on strategic points of entry to the center were erected. The design symbolizes a sense of place-guarding which may be interpreted from the pylon's tall cylindrical structure. The three semi-circular tubular rings on top of the cylinder represents the three cities within Ortigas (Mandaluyong, Pasig and Quezon City). The modern design of the pylons provide a clear message of welcome to the passers-by.

Sprawling on 300 hectares of rolling terrain, the First Philippine Industrial Park is a development project encompassing all the elements essential for a well-planned industrial park.

The design for the complex involves an entry marker with a guard house, an administration building, a service support building, a clubhouse, a covered tennis court, a socio-civic center, a police detachment, a food service facility, and for-lease office spaces.

The FPIP entry marker with guard house sports horizontal steel fins that  create an ambiance  of stability and strength.

The two-storey Administration Building of the First Philippine Industrial Park uses glass on its partly undulating facade. It is replete with vertical fins and horizontal grooves consistent with the other buildings. The floors of this structure are covered with Italian tiles and the fixtures suspended from the ceilings give daylight illumination conducive to overtime work.

The maintenance, security, and fire protection units are located in the Service Support Building

This building features the crisscrossing of vertical and horizontal fins on its facade. Grooves are still a distinct decorative feature. The clubhouse has a multi-purpose hall, an office for the club administrators, a fitness gym, a game room, a convenience shop, kitchens, and ladies’ and men’s locker rooms. The second floor houses the library and function rooms.

Completing the amenities for the First Philippine Industrial Park is the food service facility, the FPIP Foodpark. Al fresco dining with  a panoramic vista of the surroundings can be enjoyed by Foodpark clientele.

The First Philippine Industrial Park, aside from the aforementioned structures, has twelve for-lease buildings located within the four phases. These buildings were designed to house manufacturing entities light to heavy industries, factories, and warehouses.

Write – up:

This masterplan  showcases Palafox Associates’ expertise in the design of health and wellness facilities, a response to the evolving needs of  medical service professions and  adapting to the requirements of the  unique  culture context of the  Islamic world.

To meet increasingly sophisticated and diversified requirements for medical practice, the Sharjah Health City will be the core of advancing professional medical services. The convergence of all components necessary to create an effectively functioning health city such as main hospital, medical mall, pharmacy, clinics, hotels and serviced apartments, residential areas, central open space, and general offices characterizes this development project.

The inspiration of the development plan is the crescent. This shape represents the moon which, like the different star patterns in Islamic art, symbolizes the Divine Light whose ends also symbolize the heavenly aspirations of man. The medical center and pharmacy on the north, the offices and clinics on the northeast, residential area on the west, the medical mall and hotels and apartments on the south embody this star symbol. The site is easily accessible from the Dhaid Road on the North, and, conveniently, from the two sides, the southeast and southwest.

Situated in a modest lot, the sleek CEI Corporate Headquarters was designed to maximize the lot area without compromising the building’s breathability and visual impact. Hidalgo Place
Hidalgo Place boasts of a heavily-glazed elevated structure with surfaces dominantly clad with glass. Its symmetric footprint creates an impression of a structure asserting tradition and formality which is contrasted and softened by undulating canopies and balconies along graceful curves. Wind is allowed to pass through the passively cooled lobby and daylight is regulated by the extended overhangs that double as an arcade for pedestrian.

A pedestrian-friendly driveway and drop-off will welcome visitors to the mall. A 16-meter cascading water feature and green features soften the façade and introduce nature and environment.
